What is measured
The systems behind the markers.
Sex hormones
Testosterone by mass spectrometry with SHBG and albumin, so free and bioavailable fractions are calculated rather than estimated. Estradiol on the ultrasensitive assay, which is the one that reads male levels accurately. LH and FSH for the signal from above.
Thyroid axis
TSH with free T4, and on the advanced panel the full direct read including free T3, reverse T3 and autoimmune antibodies.
Adrenal axis
On the advanced panel: the stress-hormone markers that sit upstream of the sex hormones and frequently explain them.
Metabolic and inflammatory context
Glucose, insulin, lipids and inflammation, because hormone results read differently against an insulin-resistant background.
Safety and screening

How the testing works.

You order the panel.
Checkout runs through Fullscript. The lab order is issued under a physician order, which is what allows a laboratory to run the tests.

You get drawn at a Quest.
Choose a Quest Diagnostics location near you. Most panels here are a single draw. Fasting and, where relevant, cycle-timing instructions come with your order.

Results are released to you.
Turnaround is typically several business days from the draw, depending on which assays are in the panel.

You get the educational material.
Physician-designed material explaining the systems this panel measures, what each marker category describes, and general guidance on what an out-of-range result in each category tends to mean.
What these results can and cannot establish.
What they can do
- Put numbers on record for the systems this panel covers.
- Show where a marker sits relative to the laboratory's reference range.
- Give you and any physician you choose a shared starting point.
- Establish a baseline you can compare against later.
What they cannot do
- Diagnose a condition. A laboratory value is one input, not a diagnosis.
- Tell you what to take, stop, or change.
- Replace an evaluation that includes your history and examination.
- Establish a physician-patient relationship with Dr. Tagge.
If something comes back out of range.
Hormone markers are read as a network, not one at a time, and a single out-of-range value is rarely conclusive on its own. Some results warrant a repeat draw at a standardized time of day before anything is concluded. A result on the safety or screening markers may warrant attention independent of the hormone picture.
An out-of-range value on its own does not tell you what to do about it. Take the result to a physician who can read it against your history: your own doctor, or Dr. Tagge through the Precision Health Assessment.
If a result is markedly abnormal, or you have symptoms that concern you, do not wait on an appointment. Contact your physician, or seek urgent care.
