Concierge Medicine · Charlotte, NC
Concierge medicine in Charlotte, with one physician and no waiting room.
I am Dr. Daniel Tagge, MD, board-certified in family medicine and North Carolina’s only fully certified Health Optimization Medicine physician. One doctor: 24/7 direct text to me, unlimited visits, quarterly home visits across the metro, testing at my cost, and the deeper longevity work built into the same relationship.
The Plan is free. So is the call.
The short answer
What concierge medicine actually is.
Concierge medicine is a membership model. You pay your physician directly, and in exchange he takes a fraction of the usual number of patients. That smaller panel is the whole mechanism. It is what buys the longer visit, the same-day appointment, and the phone number that reaches a physician instead of a phone tree.
A typical primary care panel runs past two thousand patients. That is why the visit is fifteen minutes and why the portal message takes three days. Nobody in that system is doing a bad job. The arithmetic simply does not allow for anything else.
My practice takes a handful of households at a time. I bill no insurance, I mark up nothing, and I am your first call for everything. The deeper longevity work is not a five-figure add-on here: it is built into the membership, with testing on a quarterly rhythm at what I pay, and with Precision Health Membership it runs alongside the doctor you already have.
How the options differ
Four ways to get primary care in Charlotte.
Most people comparing concierge practices are really comparing four different structures, and the differences that matter are structural rather than cosmetic. Here is the honest version, including where my practice is the wrong answer.
| Insurance-based primary care | National concierge network | Hospital-system concierge | This practice | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panel size | Typically 2,000+ patients | Typically several hundred | Typically several hundred | A handful of households at a time |
| Who you see | Your physician or another member of the care team | Your physician, supported by staff | Your physician, supported by staff | Me. Every time. |
| Access between visits | Patient portal, staff-triaged | Physician cell line in most programs | Varies by program | 24/7 direct text to me |
| Visit length | 15 to 20 minutes | Longer, by design | Longer, by design | As long as the problem takes |
| House calls | Rare | Varies by program | Varies by program | Quarterly home visits, plus as-needed, in the metro |
| Insurance | Billed to insurance | Membership fee, and visits still billed to insurance | Membership fee, and visits still billed to insurance | Cash pay, no insurance billing. Itemized superbills provided. |
| Labs and medications | Billed through insurance | Billed through insurance | Billed through insurance | My actual cost, invoice visible, $0 markup |
| Longevity and advanced testing | Not included | Annual physical and standard screening | Executive physical, often a paid add-on | Built in: metabolomics, organic acids, and gut analysis on a quarterly rhythm, at cost |
Panel sizes and program features vary between practices; the middle two columns describe how these models are typically structured, not any one program. The right-hand column is how mine works.
What the membership includes
Concierge. One all-in year, itemized.
- 24/7 direct text to me. Not a portal, not an answering service, not a triage nurse.
- Unlimited virtual visits, with same-day and next-day appointments when you need them.
- Quarterly home visits across the Charlotte metro, plus as-needed house calls when something comes up.
- Labs and medications at my cost. I make $0 markup on anything I order.
- The establishing consultation to begin: one thorough visit at your home, credited in full toward any membership tier joined within 60 days.
An annual membership. Talk to Dr. Tagge to see example pricing.
The fee is transparent and published, the testing passes through at my actual cost, and only the fee has a cadence: quarterly, or prepaid with months free. The establishing consultation is credited in full when you join within 60 days. If you prefer a lighter, fully virtual membership, that exists too, at /primary-care.
Where I am the wrong answer
Four reasons not to join.
- You want a physician who bills your insurance. I do not bill insurance, and no membership fee is reimbursable.
- You want an annual physical and nothing else. The membership is built around an ongoing relationship, and it is priced that way.
- You want a protocol you can start this week without testing first. I read your data before I prescribe anything.
- You are looking for a replacement for emergency or hospital care. Emergencies are 911, and you keep insurance for hospitals and specialists.
Conventional medicine is essential. Your primary care doctor catches and treats acute illness, manages established disease, and handles the medical events insurance was designed to cover. If that is working for you, keep it. I exist for the part it was never built to do.
